About us
A study
with conviction.
takt shows how Dresden's public transport could feel when engineering, design and conviction come together — a flagship project by Dresden Media.
Why takt?
Dresden deserves an app that thinks ahead.
Public transport is the backbone of a city. The app for it should feel as natural as reaching for your ticket — fast, clear and easy for everyone to use.
takt is our contribution: a fully designed, technically real project that brings real-time departures, connections and live journey guidance together in one calm interface — no ads, no data selling, no account required, free. A circle for family & friends is built and will follow once the open questions around children's data are settled.

Honest & independent
Free, no ads, no data selling, no account required. takt is an unofficial project — which is exactly why it's built with care and transparency.
There for everyone
Built to be accessible, in six languages, clear. Public transport is for the whole city — the app should be too.
Real-time first
The VVO's real-time data, presented calmly. No clutter standing between you and your next departure.
Straight talk
What's the catch?
A free app with no ads and no data harvesting — you're right to wonder what the deal is. So here are the honest answers, before you have to ask.
- How do you make money with takt?
- We don't. takt is free, ad-free and collects no data we could sell. The app is our business card: we're a small agency in Dresden, and instead of explaining in glossy brochures what we can do, we'd rather just build it — for the city where we ourselves ride the tram every day. If you'd like to see who works like this, you'll find us at Dresden Media.
- Will it stay that way?
- Yes. Our promise: takt stays free and ad-free. No subscription, no paywall in front of your departures, no ad banners between you and your tram. We want to open the source code; the groundwork for that is under way.
- Is takt official — from DVB or VVO?
- No. takt is an unofficial project and has no affiliation with DVB AG or VVO. We use the VVO's publicly accessible timetable and real-time data — carefully, sparingly and with attribution. And if public transport one day says, “That's how we do it ourselves now,” we'll have reached our goal.
- Why can't I buy tickets in takt?
- Because, honestly, we're not allowed to: selling tickets requires a distribution agreement. Instead of pretending otherwise, we link you straight to the official channels — and tell you which ticket you need for your journey.
- What happens to my data?
- As little as possible. No advertising or analytics services, no advertising cookies, no account required — favourites and settings stay on your device. You only need an account if you want things to move with you between devices. Whatever does reach third parties (map tiles, hosting) is stated openly in the privacy policy — written in plain German rather than legalese.
- Can I help build it?
- That's exactly the point. The city votes on the next features, the first 100 founding Dresdeners test new things first and are named in the app. And if you write code: the source-code release is in preparation.
